Altar of Hope

We don’t believe people should go hungry and many of our ministries Beyond Our Doors reflect that belief.

In November we ask our members to bring in all the fixin's a family will need for Thanksgiving dinner. And our members respond with Extravagant Generosity by bringing in non-perishables: stuffing, cranberry sauce and green beans. In addition, they contribute money so we can provide fresh turkeys.

In the end, we are able to send a complete Thanksgiving dinner out to 25 to 30 families. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving a team goes to one of the local stores to purchase the turkeys and pick up the other perishables foods.

Then back at the church, members of all ages help sort the food into family groups and then we deliver it to the families.  We give thanks that we have this opportunity be a part of making Thanksgiving possible for so many families.

This is one thing we do with our hands once our hearts have been moved.

We invite you to join us!

Sunday we shopped, sorted and sent out 30 Thanksgiving Day dinners with lots of trimmings. The generosity of Spirit that flows through this congregation is beautiful. The positive impact these acts have on the lives of others is felt community wide. So thank you for your monetary and food donations, from every family fed this year.

I'd also like to thank our wonderful youth and other assorted sorters, we could not have done it without your help! We have some ideas for next year on smoothing out the bumps.

Thank you to our grocery runners, go team! We had just enough room for everything!

A big thanks to Shoppers Food @ Bull Run Plaza and specifically to Scott and David there who went out of their way to bring it all together.

If your looking for something meaningful to donate your time or money or food to this time next year, keep us in mind :)  Trina Kersh and Team!
