Altar of Hope
We don’t believe people should go hungry and many of our ministries Beyond Our Doors reflect that belief.
In November we ask our members to bring in all the fixin's a family will need for Thanksgiving dinner. And our members respond with Extravagant Generosity by bringing in non-perishables: stuffing, cranberry sauce and green beans. In addition, they contribute money so we can provide fresh turkeys.
In the end, we are able to send a complete Thanksgiving dinner out to 25 to 30 families. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving a team goes to one of the local stores to purchase the turkeys and pick up the other perishables foods.
Then back at the church, members of all ages help sort the food into family groups and then we deliver it to the families. We give thanks that we have this opportunity be a part of making Thanksgiving possible for so many families.
This is one thing we do with our hands once our hearts have been moved.
