Blue Ridge Assistance Dogs

Trinity Church is blessed to have an ongoing relationship with Blue Ridge Assistance Dogs.

Blue Ridge Assistance Dogs (BRAD) was founded in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization dedicated to providing specially selected and professionally trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans disabled by mobility impairments, seizures, diabetes, autism and post-traumatic stress.
At a glance, BRAD:

Is internationally accredited by Assistance Dogs International since 2008.

Has graduated 24 teams (humans/service dogs). We place our dogs with veterans, children and adults.

Places a number of types of service dogs including for mobility impairments, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), balance, autism, seizure alert/response, and diabetes alert/response.

Was awarded the Booker Willoughby Service Dog of the Year in 2002.

Provides a minimum of 140 hours of training for each service dog and human partner.

Operates a professional training facility that trains 9+ dogs on a weekly basis.

Has 1 staff member, 7 puppy raisers, a number of volunteers, and 8 board members who oversee planning, policy and fundraising.

Relies on individual and corporate cash donations as well as donations of dog food, training facilities, veterinary services, and more to operate. These are tax deductible.
