Organ
Contract Signing
On Sunday, July 27, The Rev. Stuart E. Schadt, Rector, Mr. Curtis
Brookshire, Senior Warden, and Mr. Kenneth Saliba, Representative of the
Allen Organ Company, signed the contracts to begin work on a new organ
for Trinity Church.

Mr. Kenneth Saliba and The Rev. Stuart E. Schadt sign the
organ contracts.
The Organ is a Combination
Digital and Pipe Organ. The Organ is to be 68 ranks. Ten
ranks are pipe and will be built by the Reuter
Organ Company (Lawerence, KS). Fifty-eight ranks are digital
and will be built by the Allen Organ
Company (Allentown, PA). The Organ Console will also be built
by the Allen Organ Co.
Due to our space
constraints at Trinity, and the cost of a full pipe organ, the Organ
Committee recommended and the Vestry agreed that this is the best course
of action for both space and stewardship of resources.
About
the Organ
The Organ is an "Allen Renaissance Quantum Q-345 Three
Manual, French Terraced Console with 10 ranks of Reuter wind blown
pipes."
What does that mean?
Allen Renaissance
Quantum
The Organ is being built by
the Allen Organ Company using
their "Quantum" technology which gives the organist the
ability to choose between 5 different styles of classically built
organs: English Cathedral, American Classic, Cavaillé-Coll, Schlicker,
Arp Schnitger. Each of these possibilities are digitally sampled
from organs built in these particular styles (English, American, French,
German 17th Century Revival, German 20th Century).
Q-345
This model number indicates
that the Digital component will have 58 digital stops.
Three Manual
The organ will have three
keyboards, an improvement over our current two.
French Terraced
Console
The Console (where the
organist plays), will be set up in the French Style (note the difference
in the layout of the pulls). This will allow the overall height of
the organ to be lower, and allow the choir greater ability to see the
Organist/Choirmaster.
Traditional
Console:

Organ. The specifications of the pipes will be:
8'

61 pipes
IV

244 pipes
8' Harmonic
Flute
49 pipes (13-61)
8'

61 pipes
8' Octave - played by the
pedal 44 pipes (1-44)
For a total
of
581 pipes ranging in length from 8 feet to about 1 inch.
Renovations to the Chancel
In order to install these pipes and all the
accoutrements that make them work (blower, wind reservoirs, pipe chests,
etc.), it will be necessary to do some renovations to the Chancel
area.
A new half wall will be constructed approx. 4 feet from
the current wall. This will hide the chests, reservoirs,
etc. The half wall will be extended to the present ceiling in the
middle to support The "Jesus Window," which will be moved
forward to allow for better back lighting.
Under the "Jesus Window" a small door will be
inserted in the half wall to allow access into the pipe chamber for
tuning purposes.
As 4 feet of the choir section will be lost, we are
investigating ways of recovering this by possibly removing the choir
communion rails, and the shortening of the platform on which the Altar
currently sits.
How
can I make a Donation?
The cost of the organ is $240,000. A portion of this total has
already been raised or pledged. If you would like to pledge money
in Memory of or in Celebration of, please contact The
Rev. Stuart Schadt.
If you have any questions
about the organ please contact Mr.
Kevin Feltmann our Organist/Choirmaster.
