Acolytes
Serving
as an Acolyte is a privilege and an important ministry.
Acolytes are the young people of our church who actively assist
in leading our worship of God. The commitment to acolyte is often the first mature response
a young person makes in service to our church.
This is a real and meaningful way for our young people to give of
their time and talent.
Any
Trinity youth from the fourth through twelfth grade may serve as an
acolyte. Since
acolytes are an essential and integral part of worship at Trinity,
acolytes are willing to assume responsibility for being present when
scheduled to serve.
An
Acolyte Coordinator in conjunction with the Clergy supports this
ministry.
Acolytes
serve as Torch Bearers, Crucifers, Gospel Bearers
and
Banner Carriers for special liturgies.
Training
sessions are provided individually to new acolytes and those moving up
to new duties. In
addition, special training classes will be scheduled periodically to
provide acolytes the opportunity to practice at the altar as well as to
provide some of the spiritual background regarding what the acolytes do.
This
year we visited the National Cathedral, and participated in the annual Fall
Acolyte Festival.
