From the
Parish Nurse

Parish Nurse
Parish
Nursing balances the theme of wellness (health promotion, disease
prevention) with healing (disease, recovery, death).
The Parish Nurse focuses on enhancing the well being of
parishioners and the parish as a whole.
The Parish Nurse is involved in the continuum of health.
Parish
Nursing is a well-established ministry at Trinity.
It is not uncommon for personal health and community resource
information to be given to members in the congregation each month.
A health article with a spiritual
background appears monthly in the “Tidings.”.
Homebound or hospitalized members of the congregation are
regularly visited and assessed, often linking them to outside community
resources.
Parish Nursing has reached beyond
Trinity to encompass homebound members in our community, generally the
elderly, who are not members of Trinity.
Medication assistance, visual assessments, and assistance in
accessing community resources have been provided.
Lay Eucharistic ministry is an
integral part of Parish Nursing. Communion
is taken to many people on a weekly basis, also reaching into the
community to those not belonging to Trinity, but of the Episcopal faith.
The goal for the coming year is to
continue to journey with the members of Trinity and those in the
community, encouraging them to be stewards of their own health,
assisting them to experience spiritual, mental, emotional and physical
wellness.
